Jeep Grand Cherokee (2014)

Jeep Grand Cherokee

5 Pros

  1. Revised model of the Cherokee is slightly cheaper than before and available in a more affordable two wheel drive version
  2. 4 wheel drive versions can properly go off road and are pretty cheap considering the extensive standard equipment
  3. The Diesel engine is reasonably fuel efficient and all the engines are fast enough in a straight line (the SRT is completely bonkers)
  4. The new 8 speed gearbox is a big improvement and the enormous interior and boot space remains the same
  5. Massive towing capacity

5 Cons

  1. The last time it was tested it only got a sub par 4 out of 5 stars for safety and much of the new fancy safety features are not available on the cheapest versions
  2. No seven seat option or 5 year warranty unlike the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento
  3. Fuel consumption for the petrol engines is poor
  4. The Land Rover Discovery is probably a better off roader for not much more and many of the smaller SUV’s such as the Mazda CX-5 and Ford Territory seem generally better if you don’t plan to bush bash (and obviously the more expensive Germans such as the ML-Class, Q7, X5 and Touareg are fancier)
  5. Some question marks over the ride and general interior quality / ergonomics (such as the annoying foot operated park)

Concluding Personality Type – Texas: If you believe big is indeed better…
