Subaru Outback (2013 fifth generation)

Subaru Outback body

5 Pros

  1. The Subaru Outback’s all wheel drive and raised driving height make it slightly better for dirt roads than a normal car
  2. Heaps of interior space and useful rear air vents
  3. Reversing camera standard across the range and clever accident avoiding eyesight technology available on some models
  4. 5 out of 5 star safety
  5. Full size spare (which is important if you do want to go bush)

5 Cons

  1. Lacks the prestige of cheaper European SUV’s
  2. Generally pretty slow (except for the 6 cylinder)
  3. Diesel engine only available with a manual transmission (although this is due soon)
  4. Pretty boring around corners
  5. Interior more complicated and not quite as premium as on competitors

Concluding personality type: Christian rock: Family friendly and popular, but don’t expect as many groupies

UPDATE: The automatic transmission in the Diesel is now available and reports are that it does the job without any dramas
