Peugeot 4008 (2013)

Peugeot 4008 exterior

5 Pros

  1. Based on the Mitsubishi ASX and built in Japan so it’s probably going to be reliable (although the Peugeot only has a 3 year warranty compared to the Mitsubishi’s 5)
  2. It looks good and has European appeal (although so does the Volkswagen Tiguan and Skoda Yeti for the same price)
  3. Standard rear parking sensors and camera
  4. Fixed price servicing and you only need to do it every 20,000km (or 1 year)
  5. 5 out of 5 star safety

5 Cons

  1. Slow engines and transmissions with outdated fuel efficiency
  2. Some questionable dynamics and the 4008 has a bit of a reputation for having a harsh ride
  3. Rear seat is a little tight and the boot is small
  4. Interior is Japanese, so it works, but does miss that French flair
  5. No Diesel option, unlike the excellent Mazda CX-5

Concluding personality type: Tripe: An acquired taste perhaps, but not as good as steak  (or fish or chicken or pork)

No thanks. Went to look at it in the showroom. Thought I had the wrong showroom. Don’t be fooled. Apart from the exterior styling (which I admit is nice) , Its just a pure Mitsubishi in every other respect, (yawn) which means dull and boring. I think its bad for Peugeots excellent reputation to be wheeling out second rate rubbish like this. Surely they have the resources to design one from the ground up. Look elsewhere, there are much better cars for the same money.
