Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen Tiguan exterior

Volkswagen Tiguan finally makes it off-road

5 Pros

  1. Built in Germany, so it should be well put together
  2. The cheapest manual only model is priced very competitively and it comes with a system which stops you rolling backwards during hill starts
  3. Exterior recently updated so it looks fresh, but the underlying model is getting a bit old and its shows in certain places like the dash – not yet Cher, but getting close
  4. Volkswagen’s clever fuel saving bluemotion system is available on most models making these choices reasonably efficient for their size
  5. Rear seats nearly fold flat to compensate for the slightly small boot size

5 cons

  1. The name – apparently it comes from a cross between the German words for Tiger and Iguana… that’s one Attenborough documentary I would be happy to miss
  2. The spare tyre is a small space saver rather than a full tyre
  3. Requires premium unleaded and Volkswagen is know for high servicing and repair costs, which is a concern given the old models did have a reputation for water leaks
  4. Competitor the Mazda CX-5 is the 9th highest selling car in Australia for a reason – worth a look
  5. The only free colour is white…

Concluding personality type: French actor: maybe not the best, but something romantic about being European
