Nissan Navara Dual Cab (2013 second generation D40)

Nissan Navara

5 Pros

  1. The Nissan Navara is regularly in the top ten cars sold in Australia. Part of this has to do with the macho looks and part of it has to do with the fact that it represents reasonably good value in this class
  2. Very capable off-road in the 4×4 version
  3. Strong 3 tonne towing capacity and all the engines have more than enough power (the new V6 is apparently very good)
  4. Very decent cabin space for five adults
  5. Ok on road for a big utility vehicle with a comfortable ride

5 Cons

  1. 4 out of 5 star safety. Not good enough
  2. Out of date fuel efficiency (good chance you are not a tree huger)
  3. Because they are so popular, Nissan sources them from all over the world. Some are built in Spain, some in Thailand and some in Japan. What this means is that quality and reliability is likely to vary across the range, choose carefully (Japan would probably be my pick)
  4. Enormous, so it is going to be difficult to drive around town (and a reverse camera is only standard on the expensive top of the range model)
  5. The Volkswagen Amrok probably has more badge appeal

Concluding personality type: Heavy hitter: Not exactly subtle (and probably not appropriate for your tea party…)
