Volvo driver unsurprisingly wins world’s worst park
5 Pros
- The Volvo V40 has been voted as the safest car you can buy. While you might expect this from Volvo, you might not expect it to look so good or to come with free scheduled servicing for 3 years
- The Volvo has a revolutionary pedestrian airbag system which will deploy if you hit a person at low speed
- Forget the airbag, the V40 will actually automatically brake to stop you hitting pedestrians in the first place
- The same system will even automatically brake to stop you hitting the car in front – perfect for when you get distracted by all those pesky pedestrians
- It’s comfortable, has decent rear space and the diesel engines are very fuel efficient
5 Cons
- It is not a sports car. Despite offering “sport mode” and being based on the Ford Focus (so it is ok around corners), you should not expect this car to add to your bad boy appeal…
- Reports of a harsh ride and the petrol models are not the most fuel efficient in the class
- Expensive at $35k, when compared to a Skoda Octavia wagon and price is on par with the excellent new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Also the majority of those fancy safety systems suggested above cost $5k extra.
- No longer Swedish - Volvo was saved from bankruptcy by the Chinese in 2010
- The Volvo badge – expect the jokes
Concluding personality type: Sunglasses: Glamorous and safe
